What is Lice?
What is Lice?
Head Lice are tiny, wingless parasites that live in human hair and feed on tiny amounts of blood drawn from the scalp. Lice are a common problem. They're contagious , annoying, and tough to get rid of. But while they're frustrating to deal with, lice aren't dangerous. although their bites can make your scalp itchy and irritated, and scratching can lead to infection.
It's best to treat head lice quickly once they're found because they can spread easily from person to person.

Although they're very small, lice can be seen by the naked eye.
Here are things to look for:
Lice eggs (Nits) These look like tiny yellow, tan or brown dots before they hatch. Lice lay nits on the hair shafts close to the scalp, where the temperature is perfect for keeping warm until the hatch. Nits look sort of like dandruff, only they can't be removed by a brush or shaking them off.
Scratching. With lice bites come itching and scratching in 50% of people only.
Small red bumps or sores from scratching .

Many strains of head lice have built up immunity and resistance to chemical treatments that are currently on the market. When lice are removed the eggs are still present. It is critical to remove these in order to cure an infestation.
